> **TLDR:** Compute checksums and the number of blocks for a file.
>
- Compute a checksum with BSD-compatible algorithm and 1024-byte blocks:
  `sum {{path/to/file}}`
- Compute a checksum with System V-compatible algorithm and 512-byte blocks:
  `sum {{-s|--sysv}} {{path/to/file}}`

## NAME
       sum - checksum and count the blocks in a file

## SYNOPSIS
       **sum** [_OPTION_]... [_FILE_]...

## DESCRIPTION
       Print checksum and block counts for each FILE.

       With no FILE, or when FILE is -, read standard input.

### -r

### -s --sysv
              use System V sum algorithm, use 512 bytes blocks

       **--help** display this help and exit

### --version
              output version information and exit
