## NAME
cpsv - utility to install and manage runit services

## SYNOPSIS
       **cpsv **[-f] a _<service-name>_ _..._
       **cpsv **p _<service-name>_
       **cpsv **d _<service-name>_
       **cpsv **[-f] s
       **cpsv **l

## DESCRIPTION
**cpsv **is a tool to install runscripts from CPSV_SOURCE to CPSV_DEST. It can also be used to
manage runscripts that are already installed in CPSV_DEST.
       In a Debian system, CPSV_SOURCE is _/usr/share/runit/sv.src_ and CPSV_DEST is _/etc/sv_; by de‐
fault _/usr/share/runit/sv.src_ is a symlink that points to _/usr/share/runit/sv_.
Traditionally runscripts are installed in _/etc/sv/_ but it's also possible to have runscripts
installed in _/usr/share/runit/sv/_; when the latter is true, _/etc/sv/_ becomes reserved for a
locally modified copy of the service.

## COMMANDS
**a **Copy _<service>_ from CPSV_SOURCE into CPSV_DEST, then create symlinks as when the _p_
command is used; more than one _<service>_ name can be given with this command and each
_<service>_ directory must exists in CPSV_SOURCE.
If _<service>_ already exists in CPSV_DEST, cpsv prints a warning, the cp invocation is
skipped and the return code is increased by one. The _-f_ option can be used to change
              this behaviour.

       **p **Populate the _<service>_ directory with symlinks; a _<service>_ directory in CPSV_DEST
              must already exist.
If a _<service>/supervise_ symlink or directory is not found, cpsv creates one. If a
_<service>/.meta/finish_ file exists, and a _<service>/finish_ file or symlink is not
found, cpsv creates a symlink to _/lib/runit/finish-exec._
When a _<service>/log_ directory exists: if _<service>/log/supervise_ link or directory is
not found, cpsv creates one; if _<service>/log/run_ file or symlink is not found, cpsv
              creates a symlink to _/etc/sv/svlogd/run._

**d **Print the diff between the _<service>_ directory that would be created with the _a_ com‐
mand and the current _<service>_ directory in CPSV_DEST. The exit status of diff is re‐
turned; a _<service>_ directory must exists in CPSV_SOURCE. _supervise_ , _conf_ and _wtime_
              are excluded from the diff.

       **s **Sync CPSV_DEST with CPSV_SOURCE; for each _<service>_ directory in CPSV_SOURCE **cpsv**
search the system for a systemd or sysv service file with the same name: if it finds
one then it copies the _<service>_ directory as when the _a_ command is given and goes to
the next directory; else **cpsv **looks for the path written in a _<service>/.meta/bin_
file, and if such path exists in the system then it copies the _<service>_ directory as
when the _a_ command is given; otherwise it goes to the next directory.

**l **List installed services in CPSV_DEST; the name of each _<service>_ that would be copied
              with the _s_ command is printed, preceded with character surronded by square brakets;
              [a]: _<service>;_
exists in CPSV_SOURCE but not in CPSV_DEST
              [i]: _<service>;_
exists both in CPSV_SOURCE and CPSV_DEST, the copy in CPSV_DEST is identical
to the one created with the _a_ command
              [l]: _<service>;_
exists both in CPSV_SOURCE and CPSV_DEST, the copy in CPSV_DEST is different
from the one created with the _a_ command

## OPTIONS
### -f
is provided. When a _<service>/log_ directory exists, the _<service>/log/run_ file or
symlink is replaced with the default one that is created with the _p_ command; _supervise_
directories or symlinks are never overwritten or replaced this way.

## ENVIRONMENT
       **CPSV_DEST**
The environment variable $CPSV_DEST overrides the default directory where services are
copied. If omitted or empty, the default is _/etc/sv_

       **CPSV_SOURCE**
The environment variable $CPSV_SOURCE overrides the default directory from where ser‐
vices are copied. If omitted or empty, the default is _/usr/share/runit/sv.src_
